Home learning

Pupils in Years 5 and 6 receive weekly Numeracy and Literacy home learning tasks. They also receive Welsh vocabulary to learn every fortnight.

Pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 receive a piece of writing (set in their English lessons) to complete every week, this is a 100 word challenge which uses their new spellings learnt in class. They receive weekly online Maths questions, set on Sparx Maths, and regular online Science questions, set on Educake. They also receive Welsh vocabulary to learn every fortnight.

Year 5, Year 6, Year 7, and Year 8 pupils also receive short learning activities for each subject and AoLE to consolidate their previous learning. These are set in half-termly grids. These are emailed to parents and carers, and are available to view below. Years 5 and 6 pupils are asked to complete one task per week. Years 7 and 8 pupils are asked to complete two tasks per week.

Pupils in Year 9, Year 10, and Year 11 receive regular home learning in their lessons to help them consolidate their learning. This includes, in Years 10 and 11, to help prepare for GCSE examinations. Year 12 and Year 13 pupils receive considerable learning tasks as part of their independent study requirements.

We also encourage pupils to regularly read for pleasure. We recommend an average of 15 minutes per day.
